CCXXXX

But now, having no true business, we pour our whole masculine energy into the false business of money-making; and having no true emotion, we must have false emotions dressed up for us to play with, not innocently, as children with dolls, but guiltily and darkly. -John Ruskin, Sesame and Lillies

CCXXXVI

I am down in PA at my niece's first birthday party. So I substitute a local maple target of my brother's treehouse building ambitions.

A New Head

Have been unhappy with shape and proportions of the face section of the ongoing transformation mask, so started on a new one today, pictured next to it's predecessor...

Bit More Progress

Skull and a Fallen Friend

Progress on my new transformation mask, slowing a bit, but can see some progress on the hair, and the skull mask is now cut fully off it's base...

The transformation mask is being done in oak from the tree that came down on my van during Sandy, a red oak that stood in my parent's back yard longer than it has been my parent's back yard. I've often said that for quite a few years, outside of my brothers that tree was as close as I had to a childhood friend. Progressing

Various distractions combine with the fact that the roughing stage of a project always goes faster to make progress a little less visible this weekend. It's there though, got some fitting of the skull mask to the head done, as well as taking down the exterior of the hair/helmet to closer to its final dimensions...

And as a free bonus, a shot of a friend engaged in the thankless task of cutting through a  half inch steel plate with a circular saw...
