Day 175 #MakeArt365

Worms, pencil, 2015
Ok, its blurry and not that interesting. It's 3am NY time, I got up at 6am, and I'm at the 20th international C. elegans meeting. Give me a break.

Day 170 #MakeArt365

Even Death Itself, pencil, 2015

"This battle with Mr. Covey was the turning-point in my career as a slave. It rekindled the few expiring embers of freedom, and revived within me a sense of my own manhood. It recalled the departed self-confidence, and inspired me again with a determination to be free. The gratification afforded by the triumph was a full compensation for whatever else might follow, even death itself."
-Frederick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

Day 169 #MakeArt365

Slightly Creepy Baby Study (What She's Holding, Maybe), pencil, 2015
Been pondering for a while something seed-like to go in the hand of a long term ongoing project. This is one candidate, petty directly inspired by a seed themed sculpture by fantasy artist Virginia Lee.

Day 161 #MakeArt365 Anniversary

Future Perfect, pencil, 2015
Today is my parents 43 wedding anniversary, and the second anniversary of the removal of the Cedar Lane oak. I'm ashamed to say that I initially forgot one and remembered the other. That says something about how our traumas take on disproportionate salience and symbolism while we take for granted the reliable miracles that make up our daily life. Happy Anniversary.
